IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: RDC-OM83-1101 callsign 'Oscar Mike'
Character journal: [personal profile] onetwosixshit
Series name: Battleborn
Canon notes: Post 'Heliophage' and defeat of Lothar Rendain

Species: RDC Clone.  Mike is one of thousands of a 'Mike' generation of clones, all of which are genetically indistinguishable from each other.  RDC clones can be distinguished by characteristics such as blue skin, sharp teeth, gills, and three eyes amongst other things.  Mike tends to prefer to remain fully clothed to hide his clone status, as clones are generally treated as lower class beings by most of the remaining universe..

A secondary example of RDC clone anatomy, albeit 'Foxtrot' generation.

History:
  • TIME UNKNOWN: As part of an ongoing war effort, Varelsi troops are systematically destroying (darkening) stars in the galaxy, and all life with them. A handful of factions, UPR, LLC, Jennerit, Rogue, and Eldrid, make attempts at fighting off the Varelsi scourge to save the universe.
  • y.19940: OM83-1101 fabricated in a mass batch of 'Mike' generation clones by the Rapid Deployment Corps for use in the Varelsi conflict over the Garden System.
  • y.19940: Callsign 'Oscar Mike' meets a United Peacekeeping Republic soldier known as Montana and the two become basically inseparable. Both serve in the Garden Campaign to prevent the Garden System from being darkened.
  • y.19941: After the Garden Campaign ends, the surviving RDC 'Mikes' are relocated to an empty planet in an attempt to establish a home world for the 'Mikes'.
  • y.19941 d.12: Oscar Mike is banished from the new Mike homeworld and enlists in the UPR at the urging of his friend Montana.
  • y.19956: Battle of Codex: The Eldrid planet Codex is attacked by Varelsi forces; the Eldrid codex of knowledge is damaged and Codex' star is darkened.
  • y.1557: War of Penarch. Varelsi troops, aided by the Jennerit emperor Rendain, attack and darken Penarch. Oscar Mike's squadron (consisting of himself, Montana, Benedict, and Captain Ghalt) is forced to retreat as the planet they are stationed on is glassed.
  • y.19958 d.15: Oscar Mike is recruited into the prestigious 'Battleborn', a group of ragtag soldiers and defectors from all factions united together in a final push against Rendain to protect the single remaining star in the galaxy, Solus.
  • y. UNKNOWN: After many pushes and guerrilla efforts, the Battleborn are able to defeat Lothar Rendain and temporarily banish the Varelsi from known space.  Solus is not darkened, and an effort at rebuilding society begins.

Personality:
On the surface, Oscar Mike appears to be nothing more than an unintelligent jarhead with far, far too much interest in combat and chaos.  A cursory conversation with him would lead many to believe that he's nothing more than a career soldier with no real regard for anyone or anything not involved in the current Varelsi conflict, and in some ways such an assumption would be correct.  Fighting and combat are some of the few things that he knows, and it's his job to make sure that the last start is protected at all cost.

That being said, his dedication to duty is something that's been drilled into him for many, many years.  As he was literally made to fight in countless wars, it's difficult for him to comprehend much else.  However, he isn't cruel, isn't some merciless killer with no concience.  No, instead, it would be far more accurate to say that Oscar Mike is every stereotype of FPS videogames given life, power armor, and a kickass gun.

While one would perhaps expect him to be a serious, stoic individual who's only purpose in life was to fight, nothing could be further from the truth.  Oscar Mike is young, overly-excitable, and incredibly enthusiastic about everything in his life.  Shooting people?  Awesome.  Shooting aliens?  Even more awesome.  Defending the last star from destruction from eldritch space nightmares?  Absolutely badass.  Everything that Mike does is to try to prove how 'awesome' he is, and he's always striving to make sure that the rest of the world knows.  From his penchant to taunting fallen enemies to the fact that he spouts off dumb catchphrases at the drop of a hat, he comes across as far more childish than any sort of proper soldier should be.  He is also fiercely competitive and unable to comprehend that there are people out there (beyond his personal hero) whom are actually better than him.  He's the first to accuse others of 'hacks' or 'aimbotting' if things aren't going well for him on the battlefield.

Oscar Mike also has an incredible hero-worship problem that borders on the homoerotic, specifically in regards to an older clone associate codenamed 'Whiskey Foxtrot'.

Despite his projected confidence and attempts at maintaining an 'ultra badass' persona, at his core he is actually a rather insecure and sensitive individual.  Oscar Mike is very aware that clones aren't seen as real people in his universe, and he suffers from extreme anxiety that anyone might find out that he is one.  This manifests in a distinct adversion to ever removing his armor, especially his helmet, under any circumstance.  If he can remain fully clothed, no one can see the different colour of his skin or how alien his features are, and he can keep deny his clone heritage for the rest of time.  He grows incredibly flighty when asked to take his helmet off, and will always offer excuses as to why he can't, including the fact that 'anyone that looks at my face bursts into fire.'  Obviously this is false, but he'll fight that to the death.

There's also a huge part of him that wants to fit in with 'normal' people.  With the encouragement of his best friend back home, he's taken to trying to be more personable though admittedly he's not very good at it yet.  While he still considers himself the ultimate soldier, he's slowly but surely trying to build a life outside of the battlefield.  To that extent, when he does actually connect with people it's incredibly overwhelming for him, and he has the tendency to ugly cry when emotionally overwhelmed.

He is also incredibly terrified of spiders.

Abilities:
While he possesses no extraneous paranormal abilities, as a clone Oscar Mike is very resilient and generally can bounce back from slight injuries fairly quickly.  Beyond that, his physical abilities are generally similar to a well-trained human soldier.  It is worth mentioning too that Oscar Mike seems to be missing his leftmost eye, which reduces his vision, especially when he wears his helmet, which leads to a lot of fumbling and clumsy mistakes.  He is also at least semi-illiterate.

*Though unconfirmed in canon, clones are designed with gills, leading many to believe that they may have the ability to breath underwater.
